The West Tweeddale Guild was formed by combining the guild branch for the Parishes of Upper Tweeddale with the guild branch of Newlands and Kirkurd (which also served West Linton and Carlops). It meets once a month on the 3rd Wednesday afternoon at 2pm from the Autumn through to Spring. Meetings are held throughout the linkage although, reflecting the current membership, most meetings are in Broughton Village Hall.
We welcome everyone to any or all of our meetings. Men, women, young
and old are all welcome to meet friends old and new, have informative
discussions and always lubricated with a cup of tea and a biscuit. For more
information, please contact Fiona Burnett (Tel
07944196234, email ).
The 2024/25 Programme
The new session of the Guild started on Wednesday 18th September with our annual outing, this time to Biggar Museum, followed by afternoon tea at the Gillespie Centre. In October we’ll meet in Broughton Village Hall where we hope to learn more about BEAT, the UK’s eating disorder
charity and one of the projects the Guild has been supporting.
In November we will meet in Newlands Church and will have the local Fire service coming along to talk about first aid in the community. A chance, among other things, to see how one of these defibrillators work! In December we are back to Broughton Village Hall for our Christmas party.
A new venture for this year is informal services that we are hosting in the Whim Care Centre for the residents. This will be on the 1st Wednesday of the month at 2pm. It’ll be a short service lasting no more than 30 minutes with plenty of singing, followed by a cup of tea. If you’d like to join us andhelp out in the singing, please contact Fiona (07944196234) for further details.
